Emailing Invoice from Interface - Email doesn’t send

With respect to the email, if you open up bamboo_system_files/application/controllers/invoices.php and then do a search for this line

//            die($this->email->print_debugger()); // this line for debugging

remove the “//” and try sending another email.  Antyhing interesting?

Hey Derek,

Thanks for the reply. So I uncommented the debugger line and initially got a message saying the server may not be configured to send mail using mail() so I edided /libraries/Email.php and changed the protocol to ‘sendmail’ instead of mail and got this: http://forwardresources.com/images/bamboo_screen_shot.gif

Again, this would appear as though everything worked as planned - but still nothing in the inbox!? Strange… any advice from here?

Hm.  Well, that tells us that Bamboo is successfully handing it off to the server, so at this point why it isn’t getting delivered I’m not sure, but it would seem that Bamboo is making a correct email, opening a connection to the mail server, and handing it off properly.

Possible its stuck in a spam folder somewhere?

Hey Dito.  I don’t see an easy fix.  That said… there’s been some enchancement to the email library, and it may well solve your issues.  I’m hopeful to get the next version out the door in a few days, so maybe let me know if things persist after you see it.

Hello,

I fixed this same issue this last guy was having by tweaking Email.php in bamboo_system_files/libraries

I just changed two lines in this file (The debugging information helped)

var $protocol = “smtp”; // mail/sendmail/smtp
var $smtp_host = “localhost”; // SMTP Server.  Example: mail.earthlink.net

from “mail” to “smtp” for var “$protocol” and added in “localhost” to var “$smtp_host”

Funny but I tried these settings using the email.php config file and nothing changed.

I need some help understanding what am i missing.
Send email part is working, however the message is received in MIME format all bunch of numbers and characters.
is there any tweaking for encoding that i should try.

Hi Marc.  I’ve heard this report on some servers, but nobody has ever been able to provide further information for debugging.  Is this the “final” server that you intend on using Bamboo on?  Do you have access to another server that you could test with?  Could you provide me a bit more info about your hosting environment?

When things were working, and then stop and you didn’t do anything, its almost always because the host changed something on their end.  I’d suggest you ask your host for clues.
